Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound

| Educational objective:
To provide the didactic education and clinical skills to enable the graduate to perform the duties and responsibilities of an entry-level medical sonographer in the categories of abdominal and obstetrical ultrasound. Upon completion, the student will be eligible for an entry-level position as a Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonographer in a health care facility, imaging center, hospital or physician's office. The training also includes Clinical Medical Assisting, which makes the graduate eligible for entry level employment as a Sonographer, Medical Assistant (Clinical) and Sonographer Assistant. Certified Medical Assistant Exam through the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistant is an option. The ARDMS requirements are discussed during the orientation session at the school.
Length of Program: Two years Total Quarter Credit Hours: 186
Classroom sessions are offered during the week for students living in San Luis Obispo and surrounding counties and on the weekends for students living outside of the local areas. In 2012 CCSCE added a satellite location in Coalinga, California, allowing students to travel less during their training.

Diagnostic Medical Vascular Ultrasound:
Educational Objective: Provides the necessary education and scanning skills for performing entry-level Medical Vascular Diagnostic Ultrasonographer duties, and or Technician Assistant in Vascular Specialities. This Program has the pre-requisite of having completed a basic Diagnostic Ultrasound Program. Class size is limited to a small group.
Total Quarter Credit : 121 Time: One Year.
